Again, and even louder, Zena sighed, sliding her rear to the dusty road next to her Jeep. The night began to speed up. Unexpectedly, a fancy car drove passed Zena. When it passed her, it stopped right away. Knowing that someone was stopping because she was stranded in the middle of nowhere, Zena stood up and headed to the front of her vehicle. She closed the hood and waited for the person to get out the car, a little wary of how things might play out.

“Do you need any help?” A woman’s voice asked as she walked out of her vehicle. The woman was shorter than Zena with medium skin and auburn hair. To Zena, she was attractive. The short auburn hair woman stretched her neck to try to figure out why Zena was on the side of the road stranded.

As she walked towards Zena, she noticed the woman had a beautiful figure. She could see dating a woman like her. Not only was she attracted to men, but she was also attracted to women as well. Unfortunately, she never had a chance to be with a woman. Maybe she might get an opportunity to attempt and learn how to get a chance, or perhaps make a temporary friend for a couple of hours. Either way, it was a good experience meeting someone new. Zena might have given up on making an actual true friend, but she always enjoyed meeting new people and learning something new about a person briefly. Also, Zena wasn’t going to be rude and tell someone to fuck off if they approach her, but she knew not to put her hopes up.

“Oh yes, actually my Jeep had all of a sudden stopped working. It will be hours before someone can come. Do you know the nearest town I can go to stay the night and get my Jeep fixed?” Zena attempted to act nonchalant even though she was an utter mess.

The woman continued towards Zena. “No, there’s nothing for miles that I would recommend for a woman like you to stay. Are you alone?” Gasping suddenly from seeing Zena’s torn dirty clothes and messy hair. “Oh my…. What happened to you?! Are you all right! Do you need to go to the hospital?”

The woman gripped Zena to examine her. She appeared more concerned about Zena’s safety than anything else. Something a reasonable person would do when they see a person who looked like Zena.

“No, I’m fine. It was just a little small accident, and I should have been more careful.” Zena’s body shifted awkwardly. She didn’t want to tell a stranger she was traveling alone, even if she was a woman like her. It did feel good to have a person being concerned for her.

“Do you need a phone to call for someone to pick you up, honey?”

“I already have a tow truck coming to pick me up. I’m pretty sure it won’t be that long.” Zena mumbled under her breath. “Hopefully.”

“Well, that’s good,” The woman sighed in relief, but she still wasn’t at ease with the situation. “But I can’t just let a woman sit out here alone when it’s almost nightfall; it’s not safe. Especially for a beautiful woman like you.” She gripped Zena's hand and got ready to drag her to the car. From the determined look on her face, no wasn’t going to be the answer. “You can stay with me till you get things all settled out.”

Zena pulled back as she was a little hesitant to go with the woman. She appeared friendly and a person she could get along with quite well, also adorable. Everything about her was cute, but she was also a stranger. She could drive Zena somewhere and rob her, have people waiting somewhere to sell her off to human trafficking, or even be a crazy murderer. She wanted to trust her, but then again, she had to think of the scenarios of what could happen.

“I don’t want you to go out of your way to do that,” Zena uneasily said. “Just take me to a decent hotel, and I will be just fine.”

“Nonsense! It’s no bother at all. It’s the least I can do for you. Us women have to stick together and help each other out when needed.” The woman sweetly stared into Zena's eyes, giving the impression that Zena could trust her.

Looking into her greenish-hazel eyes, Zena couldn’t help but suddenly feel comfortable with the woman as her instincts told her she could trust and have faith in her.

“My name is Que; what is your name?”

“My name is Zena. It's nice to meet you, and thank you so much for helping me out.”

“You’re very welcome, lovely Zena. Now let’s go and get you cleaned up. Maybe get you some food as well.” Que beamed in delight from Zena’s acceptance.

Zena went into her Jeep to grab a couple of things before she called the tow truck driver to tell him that the automobile would be there alone. She gave him the address to drop off her vehicle and where he could find her spare key. After checking to make sure she had all her important stuff out of her Jeep, Zena got into Que’s car. Off to Vegas, they went. As they drove away, the sun finally went down the horizon, and it became dark swiftly.

  *******

In the distance, yet again, the same people were watching the whole thing. It seemed now they have been following Zena.

“Fuck! We almost had her!” disappointedly spoke the same husky male’s voice from before.

“We should have acted sooner.” Replied the elegant male’s voice from the night before. “Who would be way out here in the middle of nowhere? Looking at her closely, that woman looks familiar, I think I’ve seen her before.”

“Who cares who she is!? We lost our prey!”

“Probably not, we can run her plates and find out who she is and where she might be staying. With the direction she was going, it seems like it would be Vegas. We can find her there. After all, Vegas is the best place to snatch unexpected drunk girls.”

  Chapter 3

It didn’t take long for Zena and Que to get along well. Their personalities were nearly similar to each other; they had the same social views, had the same taste in music, and even almost had the same taste in fashion. They both liked nearly all the same genres of movies and TV shows. Most of all, both of them liked thinking out of the box. It was like they knew each other for years than just meeting fifty minutes ago. Zena became comfortable enough to tell Que some of her life story and the reason for her travel.

“People these days suck,” Que’s face scrunched in disgust. “They’re so focused on being in their little circle that they forgot how to be decent human beings. It’s all about if you don’t follow my views on this, if you don’t follow these standards, or if you do that, then I don’t want to associate with you. Their faces are always on a screen. They forget how to be decent to people in society."

“Thank you!” Zena yelled as she threw up her arms, opening her eyes wide in enthusiasm. "Finally, someone who has some sense! It’s like people are so stuck in their bubbles that they think it’s ok to not communicate with their so-called friends, or they decide to do something else, knowing that they already made plans with another person. It’s like they are saying ‘well I don’t care, I think you are so irrelevant in my life that I don’t want to spend my precious time with you even though I made plans with you. So, enjoy sitting alone, waiting hours for me to show up until you realize I’m not coming. I'm not sorry that you feel like shit, thinking I will show up like I said I was, and I don't care if I hurt you in any way by ignoring you and not even telling you something came up like a mature adult. I will also act like I didn’t do such a thing.’”

Frustration boiled inside of Zena as her eyes went cloudy with thoughts about all the people who made her feel like shit for just doing or not doing stuff that a decent human should do when interacting with someone. She choked on her breathing as toxic memories flooded into her visions. Lowering her head down dejectedly, she realized after she and Que parted ways, Que would be another person who will come and go in Zena’s life. She would become someone who she had small conversations with and will not talk to each other till weeks or months later randomly. She already prepared herself for it.

Glancing over at Zena, Que saw the doubts in her face, and whatever she was thinking wasn’t pleasant. It pained Que to the core that someone as sweet and kind as Zena had no one to trust completely. Zena was at such a dark point in her life that she was erasing everything about her past. By the look of Zena’s
face, she was making herself chop away everyone and everything dear to her so she could get rid of the darkness inside of her, but there was nothing Zena could do to erase her darkness or bury it deep down somewhere inside. Que could tell in the short time of being with Zena that she was a fun and exciting person to be around. Why would people brush her off? Was it because her interest in stuff was that much different than theirs? Was it that she wasn’t entirely with them on certain things and was just a waste of air to them? Why would someone do that to a person? Did they like people being fake, lie about who they are, and like to have drama? Was someone not wearing a mask made other people fear to take off their masks to show their true nature? Zena said that she was an open book and tried to be honest about everything. She tried not to lie and always tried to be there for someone. She wore no mask and will always be there for a person if she was able to. Nevertheless, because of the way people had treated her, without knowing, Zena might have done the same thing other people did to her. Who could blame her? Anyone would put up shields because they had been treated wrong.

“I’m sorry that people suck, and they are afraid of someone who is their true self,” Que placed her hand on Zena’s lap, speaking honestly and openly. She gave Zena a sweet and comforting smile to ensure that she was genuine. “Fuck anyone who wants to drop you like a hat. It’s their loss. I mean, come on, you’re a beautiful woman, and you’re not afraid to be yourself. You have me as a friend now, and I won’t do that stuff to you. I value the people who I can click with and could become lifelong friends. To tell you the truth, I have a robust presence, and I don’t have many friends as well. So, when I find someone who will put up with me, I value them greatly.”

Zena couldn’t help but smile back. Her cheeks puffed, as she blushed. Even though she felt some chemistry growing between them, she still had her doubts. “You’re pretty cute yourself.” She laid her head back on the window, letting out a big sigh, as it felt like she was running around a game she played before. “Let’s be honest here; we may say yeah, let’s do this and become awesome friends. What we’re going to end up doing is saying stuff like, ‘Oh, hey what’s up, let’s do something’ just for courtesy. Down the road, we really won't do anything. We will probably not see each other again, or it will be months, even years before we meet up again. Let’s face it; we might become flakes in our memories.”

Stunned from what Zena said, Que gazed at the doubtful woman with an earnest look on her face. Taking one hand off the wheel, she pointed her finger at Zena. “Zena, no! I promise that I will keep in contact and no matter where you are, I’ll come and see you. Even if it annoys you, I will talk to you to keep in touch. And no, I’m not doing it because I feel sorry for you or am taking pity on you. It’s because I like you and want to get to know you. I want to experience stuff with you. I don’t care how long it will take for you to realize that. I know it might sound cheesy, but I think the universe made it so we could meet. So, we can be friends. Things happen for a reason, and something inside of me is telling me that I want to stick by your side. I never met someone that from day one I have so much connection with.”

Zena cried tears from laughing so hard. “I thought I’m the only one who says stuff happened because of the universe.” She began to adore Que’s spunk.

“See, it was meant to be,” Que giggled along with Zena.

Time flew by as more laughter and jokes filled the car before the two finally reached Vegas. The streets were brightly lit all over town. People roamed around, ready to party, and have some fun. Que pulled in front of an elegant hotel just off the Vegas strip. It was so elegant Zena thought she would go broke if she stayed one night there. She possibly would barely have enough to afford food. Both ladies were greeted by the valet attendant when the vehicle approached the valet booth. He seemed to know Que well as he spoke a few words with her before he drove off in her car.

Dumbfounded, Zena’s mouth dropped, shocked that Que was staying in a place so fancy, let alone able to afford it. She didn’t dress like she was loaded with money as her style was hipster punkish. Zena thought Que’s car was just a rental car. She felt a little bad for assuming Que was just like all young adults in America if they were in Vegas, traveling cheap while trying to appear stylish.

  “Holy shit!” Zena spoke mindlessly

Que snickered, as she guided Zena to her private suite, which was huge. The room had a resting area, a door that led to a huge master bedroom, and windows that looked out to the strip along with a balcony. Hold on a minute. Zena missed seeing it, but yes, it had a fully stocked bar with all the most expensive liquor.

“Make yourself comfy and order whatever you want,” Que said, pushing Zena further into the suite. “It’s my treat, so get anything you want.”

Shaking her head from the thought, Zena didn’t have the heart to jump to an offer like that. "No, I can’t let you do that. I can just pay for it myself. I’m just grateful for you letting me stay here.”

Showing that she wasn’t a shy woman, Que wrapped her arm around Zena’s arm. “No, no, no. I mean it, it’s my treat. Get whatever you want,” She let go of Zena to grab the room service menu. “I can also get your clothes cleaned for you. Now kick off your shoes and get comfy.”

“This is wow…. It’s nice for you to do this for someone who you don’t know. Thank you so much, Que. I don’t have much, but I will make it up to you for the kindness you have given me.”

“You don’t have to owe me anything. It feels like we have been friends for years.” Without hesitating, Que stripped off Zena’s clothes. She had no problem treating her like she was her lifelong friend, “Now order you something to eat and get cleaned up. After you get settled, we can go out and have some fun — Ooo sexy panties. I might have to take them off. Meow.”

Despite everything that had happened, it seemed like things were turning out good for Zena. She met a beautiful and wonderful woman who she connected with right off the bat. She couldn’t stop herself from secretly admiring how attractive Que was. Maybe she might get lucky and have her first lesbian experience. Even if it was probably only for one night, she had a shot. The signs were all there.

Que made funny flirting expressions and sounds. Nearly choking, Zena sniggered while she ordered her food. Getting even bolder with her actions, Que smacked Zena’s ass and groped her breast. Zena enjoyed all the physical contact and the horse playing. It made her think about how that moment was her ideal way to spend time with a friend, being open with each other without a care in the world. Even though Zena was enjoying the moment with Que, she couldn’t help but think in the back of her mind, what was happening was only for that night. Just for that night, Que was her best friend even though she only knew her for only a couple of hours.

“So, what are we going to do for fun?” Zena asked, heading to the bedroom to get ready to take a shower.

Following behind Zena, Que replied. “Well, I’m going to a costume party. It’s for work, but it’ll still be fun. It’ll be super fancy, and I'm sure you will have a ball.”

“I don’t have a costume,” Zena said as she was unsure of going. “Nor have anything fancy to wear.”

“Don’t worry about that. I can handle it. Along with hair and makeup.” Que bounced as she got hyper, she looked like she was dying to pounce onto Zena. “I swear you will love this party. Afterward, you can brag about crashing a fancy costume party. Now go get washed up, and I’ll call for someone to bring a costume for you.”

As the hot water rained down her chocolate skin, washing away the dirt from her body, excitement flowed through Zena’s body. She was going to crash a fancy party which she wouldn’t dream about, nor even think about having this opportunity. Not only that, but she also didn’t expect to meet a person who felt like she had known her all her life. If things work out how Que said, she and Que will establish a superb friendship. Maybe even more? Who knows, anything could happen. At this moment, Zena just wanted to have a good time, make memories, and have an ex
perience she would never forget. A slight ray of hope to reconsider trying to make friends. Zena’s new start in life possibly didn’t have to be so lonely.

After drying off her body, Zena slipped into a fluffy robe. Hugging herself, she couldn’t believe fabric could be this soft; it also smelt like fresh flowers. ‘Must be nice to be able to afford a hotel like this,’ Zena thought to herself, ‘Not only that, you get to wear a fancy robe. Hell, the bathroom is exquisite and unreal. It’s huge for an average hotel bathroom.’

Not realizing just how hungry she was, Zena’s stomach howled smelling the food from the living room. Unconsciously, her body went to the source of the smell. She became so focused on devouring her food that she didn’t notice the rack of costumes sitting by the window. Every bite she took of the food made her moan in delight.

“Wow, you were starving,” Que watched Zena eating while she picked out a costume from the rack. “Well, eat up. If you want dessert, you’re more than welcome to have some as well.”

Realizing she was stuffing her face like an animal, Zena put her hand politely over her mouth. She couldn’t help herself from pigging out. The burger and fries tasted so good that she was having an orgasm in her mouth. “Sorry, I haven’t eaten all day, and this burger is so fucking amazing right now.” She swallowed her last bite.

Chuckling from Zena’s actions, Que smirked flirtingly, “You are so adorable, Zena. How are you not with someone?”

Zena smiled a little, then frowned. “I end up with a person who I thought would be a good match but ends up not who I think he is. Some men lie to gain my trust so they could get into my pants. And I was never lucky with the ladies…Hell, I don’t know what to do when I see a woman who I am sexually attracted to and want to ask her out. I’m afraid to look like a super weirdo. Well, I am like a weirdo, but.... yeah, there is a limit to that.”
